BRITAIN'S voting system is 'archaic' and divisive' and does not represent the will of millions, a pressure group has argued. The Electoral Reform Society, which has campaigned for proportional representation for 130 years, claimed last month's General election was the most disproportionate ever.  It said UKIP would have WON up to 80 seats using the type of PR used in many European nations, while the GREENS would have got 20.  UKIP and the GREENS received 5MILLION VOTES, but under the FIRST-PAST-THE-POST system ended up with ONE MP each.  An E R S-commissioned survey said under PR the TORIES would have seen their tally of MPs fall  by almost 100 while  LABOUR would have gone down 24...

The Act of Settlement 1701- why it should Concern you NOW?

 

Background History

 

The Act of Settlement ‘settled’ the succession to the Throne of England, Scotland and Ireland on the Princess Sophia, Electress of Hanover, granddaughter of James the First, and on the heirs of her body, being Protestants. Since Sophia had died before Queen Anne the succession eventually passed to Sophia’s son, George, Elector of Hanover, who in 1714 became King George I.

 

The Act also laid down the conditions under which alone the Crown could be held:

 

No Roman Catholic, nor anyone married to a Roman catholic, could succeed to the Throne.

 

Furthermore, the Sovereign had to swear to maintain the ‘Church of E; and, following the Treaty of Union of 1707, this was extended to the Church of Scotland. The Sovereign had not only to be in communion with the Church of England but had to promise, in the coronation Oath, to maintain the Protestant religion.

 

The Act further provided that Parliamentary consent was to be required for the Sovereign to engage in war. Judges were thereafter to hold office on good conduct and not at royal pleasure. (It is ironic that the Act was to curb absolutism – but we are now suffering from the same injustices from the Inheritors of the Prerogative?)


 

The Act of settlement thus reinforced the Fundamental principle established in 1688-9, that Parliament had the right to determine the conditions under which the Crown could be held and was a further stage in the development of Constitutional Monarchy where the Sovereign would thereafter reign – but not rule.

 

The one hundred and fifty years before the Bill of Rights and the Act of Settlement was a period of civil strife and internal warfare unparallel in the history of England since the Norman Conquest. (We can see the beginnings of a similar uprising today because of the disregard of the Executive for the Rights and liberties of the People).

 

The reign of William and Mary therefore brought us three great Liberties.

 

a)        A Free Parliament

b)        A Free Press

c)        and a Free Pulpit –

 

encompassing

 

d)        Liberty of Conscience

e)        Freedom of Discussion

f)         Freedom of the Press

g)        And Liberty of Faith

 

The Bill of Rights, whose full title is “ An Act for declaring the Rights and liberties of the Subject and settling the Succession of the Crown” linked the succession to the popular Rights of the People limiting the power of the Sovereign and making the Monarch subject to law and to the Parliament. thus ending forever the concept of rule of the King by divine right.

 

In the words of King William himself in a letter to Parliament “…restoring the Rights and Liberties of the Kingdom, and settling the same, that they may not be in danger of being again subverted.” (As we find today from those who are the custodians of these prized possessions of our Liberties -  for safe-keeping, and who now are intent in denying us our Heritage in order to force us into a evil and Despotic New European Constitution).

 

IN 1701 Louis XIV promised to James, as he lay dying, that he would continue the war against England and recognize his son as James III. William’s declining health therefore created a sense of urgency if the future of parliamentary rule were made secure. The heir was Mary’s sister, Anne who herself was in very poor health. Her son, William of Gloucester had died aged eleven in the previous year.  

 

Thus we see that there was much more behind the Bill of Rights and the Act of Settlement than appears on the face of it for at stake was the Supremacy of Britain’s Sovereignty and the Supremacy of Britain’s Parliament.

 

During the reign of Elizabeth I, Spain sought control of England and supremacy of the seas and had caused Rome to incite rebellion amongst its faithful within England.

 

The reigns of Charles II and James II saw France using religion in its attempt to subjugate England.

 

Returning in more detail to our Island History- Rule in Britain had always been different from European nations particularly from the Saxon belief of the supremacy of Parliament as opposed to the later Norman/French belief in the Divine Right of the King to rule absolutely (As with our present Cabinet Government) This was explained in the comments of Richard the III, who in 1392, declared:

“…the Crown of England hath been so free at all times, that it hath been in no earthly subjection, but immediately subject to God touching the regality of the said Crown, and no other”.

 

It was this same conflict at an earlier age that led to the strengthening of English liberty with the signing of Magna Carta by King John at Runnymede in 1215 and affirmed by succeeding monarchs for some time.

 

In his History of the English Speaking Peoples, Winston Churchill emphasizes the relevance of Magna Carta:

 

“…and when in subsequent ages the State, swollen with its own authority, (As is the position today) has attempted to ride roughshod over the Rights and Liberties of the subject, it is to this doctrine (the Spirit of Freedom) that appeal has again and again been made, and never, as yet, without success.”

 

The Great Charta has a practical aspect even today when we read that a bailiff who seized all of a debtor’s goods an exception was made for the tools of his trade as mentioned in a clause of the Charta “ that a man shall not be deprived of his means of livelihood nor of his implements of husbandry”.

The most famous clauses are:

 

Clause 39

“No freeman shall be seised or imprisoned, or disseised or outlawed, or in any way destroyed, nor will we try him, or pass sentence on him, except by the legal judgment of his peers, or by the law of the land.”

 

Clause 40

“To none will we sell, to none will we deny, to none will we delay right or justice.”

 

 

There is also a clause No 61- to the effect that should the King not keep to the true spirit of the Charta that twenty-five of the Barons in our House of Lords would take steps to enforce the terms of the Great Charta.

Oh! That it would be possible today for this to happen to our twenty -first centuries replacement for the Tyrant of 1215.

 

At this time in our Nations history when our despotic and arrogant Leaders are intending to ignore the feelings of the People and use their absolute power to enslave them in a Undemocratic Utopian and Corrupt Mammoth European Equalitarian Dreamland where everybody will be reduced to a sameness as to make life as boring and unchallenging as possible with the greater number of the working population dependent on the Politburo for their livelihood, in order that the minority workers can be kept under control, in order not to disturb the good life of the mindless majority.

 

You have already had the experience of your own Government not wishing to discuss with you matters of great importance to your Country, to You and Your Children –what chance would you have if up to 25 different nations were to decide your future ?

 

 

We have a government that expounds the virtue of Education! - Education! - Education! - To have as many citizens to experience University with a debt to be paid later. If the whole exercise is we assume to acquire Wisdom – what is the use of this Virtue if the Government will not trust you with an opinion?

 

From age to age some Politicians fail to see the True Value of History, they are unable to regard modern problems with eyes that look backward as well as forward. This is how many would-be reformers and so-called politicians go helplessly wrong. They don’t know their history. They launch into ill thought out schemes, build up fine theories, institute far-reaching measures, which had they studied the annals of other ages, they would know would be futile or dangerous, because they run counter to human nature, to the laws of economic history, or to a nation’s inherited character.

Elections in the British One Party State

  Our intention is not to benefit from this disaster as since the 1999 European Election we have NOT! accepted a DONATION! from ANYONE! and we closed membership also because we did not wish to split the vote for UKIP but have stated in the past that we would contest another election if it was ever necessary to enter into the affray again and with the reputation of UKIP under scrutiny we will keep our options OPEN!   As we mentioned some time ago we have been almost two decades on the campaign trail to free our once FREE INDEPENDENT NATION STATE of ENGLAND from the SATANIC EU and those who have for centuries have planned for an EVIL ONE-WORLD CORPORATION/GOVERNMENT and EXTERMINATE! at least 5 BILLION of the WORLD'S POPULATION and therefore if we are right about those mentioned above they are not only TRAITORS to their COUNTRY but also a THREAT to WORLD PEACE.   However, of late, matters have NOT! been going well for the ILLUMINATI as you will observe BELOW.
