The Lives and Reputation of our Ancient Island’s Defenders of Freedom now
at greater Risk.

In the Daily Mail on Saturday the 24th July 2004, a timely
article by the eminent historian Max Hastings has outlined the grievous dangers
to morale of our illustrious Regiments from a politically correct Government.

Death of a
Warrior Nation
Part 3
By
Max Hastings
The ethos of the British Army is a great thing built over
centuries and recorded in countless affectionate memoirs and histories.
Think of all those tales of hoary NCO’s
and innocent recruits, of impeccable and ignorant young officers and the men
who mocked yet followed them.
Bill Slim, the great commander of the X1Vth Army in Burma in
1944, liked to tell the tale of a day when, as a young
officer cadet, a leathery sergeant major found him poring over The
Principles Of War in the official Field
Service Regulations.
‘Don’t
bother your head about all them things, me lad,’ said the veteran kindly.
‘There’s
only one principle of war and that’s this: hit the other fellow as quick as you
can and as hard as you can, where it hurts him the most, when he ain’t lookin’!
It was an 18th-century
Frenchman, Marshall Saxe, who laid down one of the great universal principles
of the soldier’s condition:
‘The
man who devotes himself to war should regard it as a religious order into which
he enters. He should have nothing, know no other home than his troops and
should hold himself honoured in his profession.’
Here, we are getting to the heart of what
should appall us about this week’s defence cuts. Back in the 70s, at the time of the last major service cash
crisis, the services were much larger.
Today, they are so small that Mr Hoon’s incursion with his
axe threatens the very ethos of the British Army, risks
destroying the very nature of the great British military tradition, because
there will be so few warriors left to sustain it.
In recent years, it has been widely
accepted-even acknowledging local scandals involving drugs, bullying or sexual
misbehaviour- that the services have miraculously preserved a social ethic far
more coherent, disciplined and unselfish than that of the British civilian
world.
Among soldiers, as I reflected at a mess
dinner a few weeks ago, good manners are still the norm. The recognition of a duty towards
others is trained into every man and women in uniform.
I turn to an outstanding
American soldier and historian Brigadier S.L.A. Marshall, for words he wrote half a century ago about the ideal of
military training:
‘Within
our system, that discipline is the nearest perfect which assures to the
individual the greatest freedom of thought and action while at all times
promoting his feeling of responsibility towards the group.’
How many people yearn to
see such values represented in ordinary society, never mind in the Armed
Forces?
Marshal added, in a sentence that should sound
like a crack of doom through Geoff
Hoon’s office:
‘It
is impossible for any man to feel happy and successful if he is in the middle
of a failing institution.’
Here is the key. The success
of Britain’s Armed Forces has depended upon a historic confidence about what
they can accomplish in the future.
The latest defence cuts threaten the
critical mass of the nation’s soldiers, sailors and airman in such a fashion
that it must strike a body blow at their self –belief.
Let us conclude with a return to Winston
Churchill, writing of his experience in France with the British Army in 1915:
‘As in the shades of a November evening, I, for the
first time, led a platoon of Grenadiers across the sopping fields.
‘
The conviction came into my head with absolute assurance that the simple
soldiers and their regimental officers, armed with their causes, would by their
virtues in the end retrieve the mistakes and ignorance of the Staffs and
Cabinets, or Admirals, Generals and politicians-including no doubt many of my
own.’
So it has been for centuries, and we have
justly honoured those who have preserved that heritage in uniform into modern
times, through Northern Ireland, the Falklands, the Balkans, Iraq
(twice) and Sierra Leone.
It is unthinkable today that any British
city should name a street for Basra- one of the Army’s most striking modern
successes-as once so many did for Aliwal and its kind.
Local councils prefer instead to christen
Nelson Mandela Road, Mo Mowlam Drive
and –before long no doubt- Mandelson Mews and Campbell Cresent.
Old Sir Harry Smith would be bewildered,
like Bill Slim, Winston Churchill and the Marquis of Montrose. They were parfit gentil knights. We live in an age in which our rulers have no time for such
anachronistic nonsense.

[The Secretary of State for Defence Mr Hoon has a great responsibility
on his shoulders to ensure that our front line troops are up to strength and are
not left with inadequate reserves and material to support their actions, which as
in the past must find our fighting services in action in all quarters of the
globe.
We do not wish for a future Inquiry to have to put the blame
for a disaster on the head of someone who has himself seen the affect of the
shortages of men and materials in our own day.
Our Armed Services deserve the best that our country can
give them and not be treated as mere statistics but as the precious lifeblood
of our own security and that of our friends and allies, and those other peoples
who we desire to assist to defend their Freedom.
This cannot be achieved unless they have the special
consideration for their unstinting service to their country and with
the knowledge that they in the final sacrifice will give their lives for their Regiment
and their Country.]
‘It
is not to be thought of that the Flood
Of
British freedom, which, to the open sea
Of
the world’s praise, from dark antiquity
Hath
flowed, ‘with pomp of waters, unwithstood,’
Roused
though it be full often to a mood
Which
spurns the check of salutary bands,
That
this famous Stream in bogs and sands
Should
perish; and to evil and to good
Be
lost forever. In our halls is hung
Armoury
of the invincible Knights of old:
We
must be free or die, who speak the tongue
That
Shakespeare spake; the faith and morals hold
Which
Milton held? - In every thing we are sprung
Of
Earth’s first blood, have titles manifold.

So You Want Out Of The EU
THEN WHY NOT SIGN THE
RENUNCIATION of
EU CITIZENSHIP
http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/Optout
Details from petition
creator
With the signing of
the Maastricht Treaty the people of Britain were
given
DUAL CITIZENSHIP
-both
EUROPEAN and
BRITISH
The extra tier of
citizenship was thrust upon the people without their
consent -and in many cases knowledge.
The PEOPLE of GREAT
BRITAIN should be allowed the option of opting out
of the EUROPEAN CITIZENSHIP if they so wish. The
GOVERNMENT will then be able to provide those who
have opted out with
BRITISH
DOCUMENTATION
-only such as
British (not EU) passports, driving licences
and other national documents.
EU laws will also NOT
APPLY to those who
HAVE OPTED OUT OF

The
Queen,
Treason
and the
Coronation
oath
Together
with
Churchill,
King
George
VI saved
our
nation;
he was a
Monarch
to be
proud
of. But
his
daughter
the
Queen is
the only
monarch
to have
broken
all her
coronation
oaths,
by
signing
these
six
treaties
that
abolish
our
common
law, the
British
Constitution,
the
British
and
English
nations,
and our
sovereignty.
She has
also
committed
treason,
together
with
co-signatories
Ted
Heath,
Margaret
Thatcher,
John
Major,
Tony
Blair
and
Gordon
Brown.
Realising
that
under
the five
Treason
Acts
they
should
already
be
hanging
by the
neck
until
dead,
Tony
Blair
and the
Queen
signed
the
Crime
and
Disorder
Act,
1998,
which
secretly
abolished
much of
the
crime of
treason
(s36.3)
and
reduced
the
penalty
to life
imprisonment
- they
didn't
tell the
MP's
what
they had
just
voted
for.
1.4
million
British
Servicemen
gave
their
lives
for our
independence.
The
Queen
has
thrown
their
sacrifices
away and
made
them
worthless.
At
no
physical
risk to
herself,
she
could
have
fulfilled
her oath
and duty
as a
constitutional
check
and
balance,
by
refusing
to sign
the six
treaties
until an
in/out
referendum
had been
held. In
the
unlikely
event
the vote
went
against
her, she
was even
more
unlikely
to lose
her
crown
(not her
life or
a limb),
and
would
keep her
£9
billion
plus
palaces
either
way.
Those
servicemen's
lives
would
still
have
meant
something.
But she
was
always
keen to
sign;
and said
in
advance
she
would
sign the
last
treaty.
Princes
Charles,
William
or Harry
can now
never be
King.
You
can't
have a
King
without
a
Kingdom:
they can
only be
princes
of a
region
(principality)
within
Europe.
King
Edward
8th was
forced
to
abdicate
because
he was
too
overt as
a German
Nazi
supporter.
Mrs
Simpson's
divorce
was
merely
the
excuse.
The
Royal
Family
is a
German
Family -
real
surname
Saxe-Coburg Gotha.
Windsor
is an
adopted
surname.
All four
of
Prince
Phillip's
sisters
married
high
ranking
German
Nazis.
After
they
lost the
war the
EU was
switched
from a
Nazi
basis to
a
communist
basis.
Between
the ages
of 12
and 22
Queen
Elisabeth's
political
and
constitutional
tutor
was Sir
Henry
Martin,
a Fabian
Communist.
It seems
clear
she was
well
trained
for her
subversion
and
treason.
Because
she
waves
and
smiles
at us
most are
fooled
into
thinking
she's
lovely;
in fact
the
Queen is
a member
of the
Illuminati,
a
Bilderberger,
head of
Freemasonry,
is
wholly
pro the
(German)
EU, and
has
abolished
this
nation
with
ruthless
determination.
It is so
obvious
she
cares
nothing
for
Britain
or the
British.
The
Queen's
aspirations
are not
ours;
she
clearly
serves a
much
darker
master;
the
faith
she
defends
cannot
be the
one we
think it
is. King
George
VI, the
one
recent
monarch
not
indoctrinated
with
Nazi or
Communist
philosophy,
must be
turning
over in
his
grave.
I
ask that
the law
be
enforced,
and the
Queen be
tried
for
treason
before
12
honest
people,
and not
by our
corrupt
judges.
And that
the
illegal
section
36.3
Crime
and
Disorder
Act be
declared
null and
void, so
that she
can hang
by the
neck
till
dead.
The new
EU
Hitler
doesn't
have to
get
elected
Its
worth
noting
that
Adolf
Hitler
first
had to
get
elected,
if on a
35%
minority
vote,
and then
get his
Enabling
Act
passed.
An EU
dictator
has no
such
problems.
Our EU
rulers
do not
submit
themselves
for
election
now. And
the
Queen
has
already
signed
the
Enabling
Act
(Civil
Contingencies
Act
2004).
The EU's
Hitler
will
have a
much
easier
rise to
power,
and will
have the
formerly
British
and
French
nuclear
weapons
from day
one.
Adolf
Hitler
killed
54
million
people.
The EU's
dictator
could
kill a
billion
at the
touch of
a
button,
with no
democratic
checks
and
balances
to
answer
to. How
could
any
aspiring
dictator
resist
the EU
opportunity?
