I start to imagine a similarity between our relationship with our masters in Brussels and that of an abused women with a wife-beating husband. One hears of these ménages and wonders why the women stays.

The answer usually, is that she has become inured to degradation and through loss of self-esteem, fears a life away from it. I must presume that this is largely why there has not-so far-been an ear-splitting public outcry about the outrageous suggestion that the name of

OUR SOVEREIGN

 should be removed from the

BRITISH PASSPORT.

[Well! on my very infrequent trips to the continent I have noticed that a number of British travellers now hide their lilac coloured EU passport from view with a traditional British passport cover with the appropriate words that has for many years has gone a great way to defend British subjects abroad. We pride ourselves as being amongst those trouble rousers who get under the collar of our continental bureaucrats who cannot hide their distaste for our objection to being citizens of their Orwellian State.]

In case the disgusting story has passed by, let me oblige.

YOUR PASSPORT

currently says, as it has done,

that Her Britannic Majesty's Principle Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs politely (but with pomp and circumstance) requests that any other nation extending hospitality to the

BRITISH TRAVELLER

should jolly well look after him, or her.

The IDEA from our MASTERS-although denied by the

MINISTER for EUROPE

-is that from 2010 this should be replaced by a formula stating that the bearer is a

CITIZEN of the EUROPEAN UNION.

A CRY WENT UP, remarkably spontaneously, in my heart when I read this, as I feel sure it did in the hearts of millions of my fellow countrymen.

I AM NOT A CITIZEN OF THE BLOODY EUROPEAN UNION.

-except on a technicality.

I AM AN ENGLISHMAN

and a

SUBJECT

of

Her Majesty the Queen.

I intend to remain that way and when I go abroad I wish that last point to be made abundantly clear on my passport. I do not wish to have what remains of my

NATIONAL IDENTITY

-of which I am inordinately proud, subsumed into a

SOVIETISED EUROPEAN EMPIRE

by these menacing Orwellian bureaucrats

WHOM I NEVER ELECTED

and who have never had the manners or the decency

TO ASK ME WHAT I FEEL ABOUT THESE IMPORTANT

MATTERS.

Just as I was moving into a new and hitherto unexplored region of apoplexy at the prospect of

ATROCITY

however, something rather remarkable happened.

A person rejoicing in the quite Wagnerian name of Gunter Verheugen, one of the

UNELECTED PERSONS

and the EU's

INDUSTRIAL COMMISSIONER

showed the

FULL POWER OF BRUSSELS

in our lives by making a gracious concession about one of our

FUNDAMENTAL FREEDOMS.

He announced that the EU-driven plan to force us to adopt metric measures was henceforth abandoned.

Until yesterday, we were supposed to agree to the wishes of

OUR MASTERS

that we should no longer sell beer or milk in pints or mark our signposts in miles -or face the consequences,

NOW [HERR] Mr Verheugen has said that this argument is

'pointless'

HE and the SOVIETISED EMPIRE that he represents, HAVE GIVEN UP.

Be in no doubt:

THIS IS A VICTORY

on an awesome scale, and it sets an equally awesome

PRECEDENT

Orwell himself, years before the invention of what is now the

EUROPEAN UNION

understood the

TOTALITARIAN SYMBOLISM

of imposing an alien system of

WEIGHTS and MEASURES

on a

NATION.

Airstrip One has been metricated. Old men sit in pubs drinking beer and fretting that a half litre is not enough and a litre too much.

UNTIL YESTERDAY, WE WERE HEADED FOR

AIRSTRIP ONE.

[As we have explained the EU never gives ANYTHING AWAY without GOOD REASON. It knows that it must compromise at this particular time in order to dismantle a vigorous opponent to their plans to enslave us in their new

UNITED STATES of EUROPE

 and mark our words this is NOT the END of the MATTER and is only a sop to the British voters for the TIME BEING as it suits their PLANS that they HAVE FOR US.]

The campaign to metricate Britain has been no laughing matter. Precisely because they could not see why it mattered a jot to Brussels whether potatoes were

 SOLD in BRITAIN by the POUND

a group of traders some years ago chose to defy a law that was not in their interests, nor in the interests of their customers, but merely served the European Union project of uniformity, unification and submission.

THEY WERE DULY PROSECUTED

AND BECAME

"THE METRIC MARTYRS"

[One of our most pro-MEP's the Conservative Mr Philip Bushill-Mathews will be bitterly disappointed as he believed that the British governments were responsible over 100 years ago? He mentioned a Select Committee of the House of Commons back  1862. As far as he was concerned

'Nothing to do with Brussels at all' 

He talked about Britannia

 ' being slow to embrace new rules'

.It is from a book which will haunt him at the next European Election -if there is one?

He condescendingly stated:

'it really is time that we finally gave up our pounds and ounces, just as we gave up the Groat all those years ago - not because of any [EU] Directive but in the common cause of common sense and getting up-to-date.

NEED WE SAY MORE?

Mr Philip Bushill-Matthews further says in his book

'Some have gone so far as to say that they were lied to by Edward Heath back in the 70's as part of a

 GREAT DECEPTION'

They thought they had voted for

FREE TRADE

-for a

'Common Market'

'They could not be more wrong'

says Mr Philip Bushill-Matthews.

'Common Market'  EEC in 1972.

But as many now know Edward Heath asked his  Lord Chancellor- Lord Kilmuir  prior to the acceptance of the

TREATY OF ROME

for a legal analysis of the treaty as to its affect on the

SOVEREIGNTY of the NATION STATE

and he wrote a letter which clearly stated that the

SOVEREIGNTY

 would be at risk.]

[Well! -the evidence is against Mr Matthews as indicated above and only a few years ago Edward Heath himself indicated that

HE HAD LIED.

[Metric Martyrs]

One of them, a greengrocer named Steve Thoburn, died aged 39 of an illness his allies believe was brought on and exacerbated by the stress he was under from the prosecution.

Mr Thoburn and his friends have been vindicated. As Mr Verheugen had realised -even if he lacks the courage to say so in these terms -it does not matter the slightest to the cohesion of his beloved

SUPERSTATE

whether a greengrocer in

COUNTY DURHAM

sells apples by the

POUND.

IT WAS ALL PART OF THE MIND-GAME THAT

BRUSSELS

FEELS IT MUST PLAY WITH US,

TO BEAT US INTO OBEDIENCE.

Many things flow, or should flow, from this. If we continue to sell beer and milk in pints and measure roads in miles then all the other forcible acts of metrication we have had to suffer

CAN BE REVERSED

The Sale of Goods generally in imperial measures should not be an offence.

OUNCES

STONES

QUARTERS

and

HUNDREDWEIGHTS

of

FRUIT and VEGETABLES

should once more be trafficked across our islands.

So should

CHEESE

and

MEAT

PETROL should be SOLD in GALLONS

Not least so we can see how expensive

IT IS.

If I wish to buy a yard of SAND or a yard of CLOTH

IT SHOULD BE MY RIGHT TO DO SO

And the right of a tradesman to sell it to me.

This is just so that we can assert an essential and important part of

OUR CULTURE

-though heaven knows,

IT IS TIME WE DID

It is so we can deal in goods in quantities that we all instinctively understand, and our children should be taught about them

TOO.

Yet there is still more telling consideration. If our MASTERS have decided they don't care how we sell our milk, why should they care what it says in our

PASSPORTS?

Indeed, why should we have these nasty little lilac passports, when our traditional blue ones did exactly the same job?

As the campaign, heroic as it has been to keep our WEIGHTS and MEASURES has succeeded why should a campaign to retain

OUR PASSPORTS

in their traditional form

NOT SUCCEED?

For in the end, would

BRUSSELS

not see the desire to change them, too, as,

"Pointless"?

It is iniquitous that we should rely on Mr Verheugen, and people like him, to tell us

WHAT WE CAN AN CANNOT DO

It is iniquitous, too, that each person in these islands should pay

£1000 a year

for membership of this corrupt overweening and anti -democratic club.

Fired up by this victory on metrication, we should all realise how vulnerable this mendacious enterprise is to

SHEER -RELENTLESS OPPOSITION

[As the German-led ambitions  have well and truly illustrated their motto

" MIGHT-NOT RIGHT"

They cannot understand COMPROMISE which they consider WEAKNESS.

The ONLY WAY THEY UNDERSTAND is FEARSOME OPPOSITION and THAT HAS BEEN ITS HISTORY for over 2000 years.]

The QUESTION of EUROPE also has the POWER to DESTROY GOVERNMENTS, and IT could well DO SO AGAIN.

Whatever they believe caused it, the Conservatives are in their 11th year in OPPOSITION because of

John Major's

 TREACHERY at MAASTRICHT

and his dishonourable behaviour after our eviction from the ERM on Black Wednesday.

The anger Europe stirs up reminds us why Mr Brown wants to avoid a

REFERENDUM

on the

NEW EU TREATY

-a document unacceptable to this supposedly

FREE and DEMOCRATIC NATION

It should also, though remind him why he should have one, to get the issue out of the way so he can get on with being

PRIME MINISTER.

If I were in his shoes I wouldn't hang about, either. Many more of these "pointless" interferences in

OUR WAY OF LIFE

and much more evidence of our impotence at the hands of the international un-elect and it won't be a

REFERENDUM

on the

TREATY

that we will be calling for.

IT WILL BE ONE ON WHETHER WE WANT TO STAY IN THIS OPPRESSIVE AND UNSAVOURY CLUB

AT ALL.

[After over 12 years in the political landscape we can see that it has been the  characteristic national accomplishment to COMPROMISE

which as led us into the unholy attachment to a menace to real DEMOCRACY

The continentals know us too well and have played their game-plan accordingly so that in September 2007 within a matter of weeks the issue of belonging to an

The signs are not that good as it is more than possible that the pro-EU advocates will be kept in line by the wonderful pickings they will be rewarded with for

to uphold the Ancient Constitution of

ENGLAND.

When one considers the millions of people in our country that belong to eurosceptic organisations who hold hundreds of thousands of pounds and the lacklustre response to the countless CAMPAIGNS as we have witnessed and still witness today there is only one conclusion that we can draw and that is the Eurosceptic Movement (Though one can hardly call it so as they are not UNITED as are the EU lobby) that their policy of OPPOSITION has been greatly at FAULT because they have depended on the WORD ONLY and NOT as the late Steve Thoburn with his METRIC MARTYRS rightly demonstrated YOU have TO TAKE the BATTLE to YOUR OPPONENT.

It shows that this country alone of the European states has in all ages possessed the great benefit of a Legislature distinct from the Executive Government [you wouldn't say that in September 2007 -unless a miracle is on the way-which we doubt] , the Sovereign of England never having at any period had the power of making general laws.

But it is likewise shows most clearly that this or any other institution can give little security to the liberties of the people,- little obstruction to the maladministration of public affairs. [as we have seen over 35 years and particularly over the past decade.]

'The lesson taught by history of our Constitution in all ages , is that unless the people continue watchful over their own rights and their own interests, the best constructed system of polity can afford them no shelter from oppression, no safeguard against the mismanagement of their concerns. It may be very wrong to say that forms of Government are of no importance, and that the best system is the one best administered.

The greatest error that the so-called Eurosceptic Movement failed to realise is that the early MARCHES and other OUTSIDE ACTIVITIES were the tools to be used TO BRING VICTORY. NOT countless CAMPAIGNS which have played their part in devaluing the THREAT to our NATION STATE. IF there had been a MILITARY MAN as the HEAD of the MOVEMENT then we would have seen the results gather momentum instead of as is the case in September 2007 their FORCES scattered and demoralised by the inept disunited EUROSCEPTIC MOVEMENT. ]
